Luigi Malones
Luigi Malones is situated in the heart of Limerick City, opposite the Royal George Hotel site on O’Connell Street. While this entire area is now being revamped, the restaurant site had amazingly laid derelict and vacant for 5 years before being discovered by the Luigi Malones team and a local developer. Formerly the O’Connell Mall, the contemporary design of the restaurant now makes for an amazing sight in Limerick city. The frontage has a very striking appearance, with tall, clear glass to a height of 4 meters giving a bright and spacious feel to the reception and bar area. The Rhodesian teak floor, salvaged from the Old Bank of England, is beautifully polished and compliments the vast and varied selection of natural stone finishes throughout the restaurant. In the bar area, the counter of polished zinc is supported by large pieces of vibrant, sea green kirkstone. Further into the restaurant, the lighting design, as recently featured in architectural magazine Select, draws you in with subtle shadows, beams and strips of light that pull the eye towards the elegant furniture and detailed touches that make this a very bold and striking design.
